Masala Dosa Recipe

About Recipe:


This is a South Indian dish which is made from lentils and rice, which you can eat for lunch, dinner, breakfast or anytime. This is a very popular dish.
Dosa is a type of pancake from the Indian subcontinent, made from a fermented batter. It is somewhat similar to a crepe but its main ingredients are rice and black gram.

Ingredients:


Dosa Content:

  • Three cup sesame rice
  • One cup - urad dal (Black gram)
  • Two spoons - fenugreek seeds
  • To make dosa - enough oil or ghee

Sambhar Content:

  • 1 cup mix vegetables (radish, onion, potato, lady finger, eggplant, etc.)
  • 2 green chillies ( slit cut )
  • 2 cup - tur daal
  • 3 tbsp. - Sambhar masala powder
  • ½ tsp - turmeric powder
  • 2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp. - Tamarind Water
  • Salt - according to taste
  • For tadka - 1 serving spoon spoon oil,
  • 1 spoon mustard grain
  • Pinch full - Asafoetida
  • ½ teaspoon fenugreek
  • ½ teaspoon - cumin
  • 1 - red chilli
  • 8-10- curry leaves

Spiced Potato Masala Ingredients:

  • ½ kg potatoes boiled
  • 2 big onions - chopped
  • 2-3 green chilli -chopped
  • A little ginger - finely chopped
  • ½ tsp - Turmeric powder
  • Salt-by taste
  • 1/2 cup green coriander
  • 1/2 cup- plain water
  • For tadka one spoon oil,
  • 1 tsp. mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp. - cumin
  • 2 red chillies
  • Some Curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp.. urad dal
  • 1 tbsp. gram dal

Coconut Chutney Ingredients:

  • Half-coconut
  • 4 tsp. roasted grams
  • 4 green chillies
  • Little green coriander
  • One piece - Ginger finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp.- tamarind water
  • Salt - according to taste
  • For tadka- one teaspoon oil
  • 1 tsp. mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp. urad dal
  • 1 red chillies cut into two pieces
  • Some curry leaves

Directions/Method:


Dosa batter and method to make-

  • Keep lentils and rice for 6 hours separately for soaking. Soak it with lentils. 6 hours later, grind them both separately.
  • Then mix both batter and add salt to it and keep it for at least 12 hours.Keep it in a big vessel until it raised.Dont stir it continuously.
  • Now heat the pan, sprinkle some water on it, Add some ghee heat it and keep it at medium flame. Now pour  spoonful dosa batter on pan, and spead it in circular shape over pan. Put a spoonful of oil or ghee on all sides and increase the flame until  golden and take spiceful potato masala and spread on it and roll it round. Slowly take out dosa from pan and Serve with sambhar chutney.

 

Sambhar chutney method -

  • Cook tur daal, take imli soak it and take outits juice.
  • Take a kadai add mustard seeds in it, add curry leaves now add vegetbles and cook it for 2 minutes. Now add imli juice, water, salt, tuermeric powder, sambhar masala and cover it with lid and let it cook on a medium flame for about 5 minutes, its ready.
  • Take it out when it ompletely cooked. Serve it with hot dosa and chutney.
  • If you want some different kind of Sambhar, then you can make it from just one vegetable or just onion by 100 grams of small amount of onions, small and small Put the whole onion, the other method will remain the same.

 

Spiced Potato Masala Method -

  • Put the boiled aloo on one side. Heat a spoonful of oil in a pan and put all the spices in kadai. Add chopped green chillies, ginger, onion, after 2 minutes, add tomatoes after 2 minutes. Add salt, turmeric, water. Cook for five minutes.
  • Once the onion is well cooked, add potatoes and mix all the ingredients together. Now add green coriander. Fill this spice in the dosa and serve it with chutney.

 

Coconut Chutney Method -

Grate coconut, roasted gram, green chilli, green coriander, ginger and  Mixer it. Add tamarind water and salt in it. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves for tadka in it. Turn off the gas and Mix everything now. Serve it with dosa.
