sweet zarda rice is a traditional dish made by adding boiled rice, sugar, dry fruits, and yellow color. It is also called Zarda which means yellow color. Usually, this dish is also prepared as a sweet dish at parties. Apart from Eid, it is also served to the guests at other festivals. Lets make sweet zarda rice recipe step by step.

Ingredients Of Sweet Zarda Rice Recipe:


Main Ingredients:

  • 100 gram Sela Rice
  • 70 gram sugar
  • 70 gram milk
  • 25 gram Cashew (chopped)
  • 25 gram Almonds (chopped)
  • 25 gram Coconut (chopped)
  • 25 gram Raisins
  • 8-10 Green cardamom powder
  • 15-20 Saffron threads
  • 2 tablespoon Ghee
  • Pinch of food color

How To Make Sweet Zarda Rice Recipe Directions/Method:


  1. First of all, we will wash the sela rice well and put it in lukewarm water and keep it for 1 hour.
  2. After 1 hour we will sieve those rice in a sieve.
  3. Now take a pan, put 1-1 / 2 litre water in it and let it boil, add food color when it comes to a little boil
  4. Then add sela rice in it, and cover it with lid. Keep it for 10 to 15 minutes and keep stirring it in between until it gets cooked.
  5. After 15 minutes, check the rice is cooked or not we will cook it only for 80 percent so that it does not dissolve when we will cook it by adding sugar.
  6. After cooking the rice, sieve it.
  7. Now again add ghee in the pan, add all the dry fruits (cashew nuts and almonds) and coconut powder and fry them for 1-2 minutes, take out some and let the remaining in the pan.
  8. Now add rice in the same pan, cook them well for about 1 to 2 minutes, then add sugar and mix it and cover it on medium flame and keep it for 5 minutes to cook.
  9. After the rice is cooked well, add milk and saffron mixture, green cardamom powder and raisins to it.
  10. Now mix it well on medium heat for about 2 to 3 minutes. Now garnish it with the remaining dry fruits which we roasted in ghee.
  11. Your sweet zarda rice is ready. Serve it hot as dessert after food.
