Rajasthani Daal Baati Recipe

Rajasthani Daal Baati Recipe

About Recipe:


Daal baati is a speciality of Rajasthan. In every festival of rajasthan most of the people make dal baati . Dal baati is an Indian dish. It is popular in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Daal is basically prepared using tuar dal, chana dal, moong dal, moth dal, or urad dal.

Ingredients:


For Baati

  • Two bowl of wheat flour
  • a bowl of semolina
  • a bowl gram flour
  • a small spoon of salt
  • two bowl of ghee
  • a pinch of sweet soda.

For Dal

  • 1 medium bowl - five type of pulse [Mung, Udad, Chana, Lentil, Arhar]
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 spoon hot spices powder
  • 1/2 spoon cumin seeds
  • a pinch of Hing
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • 2-3 tejpatta
  • Decorating Ingredients - Green Coriander

Directions/Method:


Method for bati:-

  1. Mix flour, salt, and soda properly and filter it.
  2. mix a small bowl of hot ghee into flour mix to make crispy baati.
  3. Make a hard dough and cover it for an hour.
  4. After 1/2 hour, make small dough balls.
  5. Put dough balls in the oven for 25 min at 200 degree.
  6. Take them out the oven and dip them in the ghee. And now we will make mix dal.

 

Method for dal:-

  1. Wash the dal and soak it for 1/2 hours.
  2. If there is a one bowl of dal use five  bowl of water to cook dal.
  3. Put salt, turmeric, coriander powder and red chilli powder in it and keep it cooked.
  4. Put socked daal in pressure cooker. You may also cook it in pressure cooker but it tast different when cook it in open vessel.
  5. Now Heat the ghee in frypan. Add asafoetida (hing), garlic(chopped), cumin, onion(chopped), tomatoes(chopped), green chilles(chopped). 
  6. After a little fry, add garam masala and put that gravy in dal. And close the lid. Decorate it with coriander.
